Project Description

The Pöyry Energy business group is providing specialist services to Safety Department, BNFL, and assisted in the preparation of the Preliminary Safety Assessment (PSA) for irradiated DRAGON fuel storage in the TRS (as well as the Pre-Commissioning Safety Report for encapsulated solid waste storage in the TRS and the PSA for unencapsulated sludge storage in the TRS).
Particular Services
  • Working in liaison with the client, the Pöyry Energy business group was responsible for the following activities associated with the production of the TRS PSA:
  • Preparation of the plant and process description, and justification of the adequacy of the plant for normal operation.
  • Preparation of functional block diagrams and activity flowsheets for the plant based on existing plant design information and the results of research and development work.
  • Preparation of databases for equipment failure rates and human error probabilities for use in the PRA of fault conditions.
  • Consequences modelling and production of a quantified database for use in the PRA of fault conditions and the external event assessment.
  • Attendance of the HAZOP I meeting and preparation of the HAZOP Report.
