Project Description
Advice is being provided on the breakdown of radioactive waste arisings into various streams and the extent of information required for these streams.
Particular Services
Currently, consultancy is being provided on the compilation inventories and methods of calculating the radioactivity concentration in wastes. A report has also been prepared on measurement techniques for detecting the radioactive content of conditioned waste packages and possible correlation factors between measured nuclide concentrations with other nuclide concentrations that cannot be measured. Consultancy is provided on HLW specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Recent assignments have included:
- Characterisation of historical waste by expert elicitation and ORIGEN calculations.
- Preparation of specifications for NDA requirement.
- Database verification and validation.
- Calculation of activation of HLW store.
- Preparation of source terms for accident scenarios
