Heart-PC
A tool for human reliability assessment
Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique, or HEART, is a successful and cost-effective tool for predicting human reliability and identifying ways of reducing human error. HEART can be applied to any industrial operation due to its methodology being centred upon the human operator rather than the technical process. More about the HEART methodology.
The Pöyry Energy business group engineers and ergonomists have developed HEART-PC to provide a tool that gives comprehensive help in forming the judgements that the HEART method requires. The program:
- uses standard Windows technology to provide a simple user-friendly interface
- multiple assessments can be performed and either saved separately or in a single project database
- automatically generate reports, at various levels of detail, for a complete project
In addition to the HEART methodology, the software package provides three essential aids to the assessor:
- Core Data which contains the standard HEART Generic Tasks, and Tasks developed to be industry specific
- User Results Database containing the human error probabilities calculated through the HEART method, user notes and non-HEART results
- HELP Facility containing comprehensive help in using the HEART method and referencing core human factors literature

HEART-PC is priced at £2000 per copy with discounts for multiple copies. If required the Pöyry Energy business group can provide technical services to undertake or support human factors assessments and training in the use of the HEART technique and/or HEART-PC.
