Heart-PC Methodology

As a paper-based method, HEART has been in use for over ten years and continues to attract an increasing number of users including major organisations in the nuclear, oil & gas, chemical and defence industries.

HEART can be applied to any industrial operation due to its methodology being centred upon the human operator rather than the technical process.

The technique is based on the general principle that for each task in life there is a basic probability of failure. However affecting each task there are, at all times, varying levels of Error Producing Condition (EPC) that may influence the human reliability that can actually be achieved.

HEART makes use of the critical human factors literature that contains those factors that really affect human performance and error and places these factors within a method that is simple in concept. Nevertheless areas of the HEART method rely on significant judgements by the user.
